History of Mogok, “Ruby Land” of Myanmar (Burma)
Mogok is a small town in a five-hour drive north of Mandalay City in Myanmar (Burma). It is famous for its the world’s finest RUBIES and many coloured gemstones. It is located in the pan-shaped valley surrounded by very green mountains, forests, and trees, i.e. also well known for its breathtaking view. During the days with scattered clouds in the sky, the town looks stunning under the shade of clouds and rays of the Sun. It has a temperate temperature all year round.
The World’s Finest, the Extremely Rare, Rubies and Coloured Gemstones
According to academics and researches, 90% of the world’s supply of rubies comes from Burma, and the gemstones production in terms of all finest Burmese rubies, and 90% of coloured gemstones are mined in Mogok. Royalty and Burmese rubies
Burmese rubies are found back in Shan Dynasty in the 16th century. Back in the time, the rubies and precious stones were only given to the Kings during Shan and Burmese Dynasties. These stones were regarded as the royal stuff to be used only by the Kings, Queens and their privileged society.
